The Philadelphia Eagles made a shocking move on Friday, acquiring former first-round pick Kenny Pickett from the Pittsburgh Steelers. Pickett had an average two years in the Steel City, completing 62.6 percent of his passes for 4,474 yards, 13 touchdowns, and 13 interceptions.

There was a belief that Pickett would compete for the starting job in Pittsburgh this summer after the team signed Russell Wilson, but the young quarterback wanted to go elsewhere and restart his career.

Pickett joins an Eagles’ team that has its franchise quarterback in Jalen Hurts, but it could be a good spot for him to refine his skills under the tutelage of offensive coordinator Kellen Moore.

The 25-year-old Pickett went to social media to express his excitement about playing for the team he grew up rooting for as a New Jersey native.

In a social media posting on Instagram, Pickett expressed his gratitude for his time in Pittsburgh as a college and professional player. The young quarterback ended the post with, “I am honored and excited for the next opportunity in my career, being able to play for the team that helped me find my love for the game as a kid. Go Birds!

Pickett is excited to play for the Eagles, who are looking to bounce back from a terrible ending to the 2023 season. Philadelphia hopes Pickett won’t have to start this season as Jalen Hurts stayed healthy in 2023. However, the former first-round pick will get an opportunity to learn and hopefully reignite his professional career.
