Jalen Carter Reveals Why Coaches Punished Him in Week 2
It hasn't been easy going in Philadelphia for the Eagles. Last week on Monday Night Football, the Atlanta Falcons went into Lincoln Financial Field and beat the Eagles 22-21.
It was a win that the Eagles had in the bag but they found a way to fumble it in the fourth quarter. The attention has now shifted to the New Orleans Saints.
But before we can get there, defensive tackle Jalen Carter confirmed that he didn't start or play in the first defensive series against the Falcons. We knew he was late for something team-related but on Friday he finally announced what happened.
Eagles News: Jalen Carter Was Late for Team-Meeting Last Week
When speaking to the media on Friday, Carter said that his alarm didn't go off and he ended up oversleeping. That led to him being late for a team meeting and the Eagles decided to bench Carter for the first series in Week 2.
The Georgia product added this was the first time he was late for something, yet the Eagles still wanted to send him a message.
The 23-year-old is one of the top players on the squad, but this shows that no player is above the team. And that's the message you need for a team chasing a Super Bowl.
Hopefully, this never happens to Carter again as the Eagles need him for every snap. In 18 games with Philadelphia, Carter has notched 37 total tackles, eight tackles for loss, 10 QB hits, and six sacks. He's their best defensive lineman but he needs to make sure he's not late again. The Eagles have already shown they aren't afraid to keep him on the bench.
