Wednesday brought some significant Philadelphia Phillies news with it, as GM Dave Dombrowski announced Bryce Harper would be the team's full-time first baseman moving forward. While this move benefits the team, it also hints that Rhys Hoskins' tenure is likely over.

If this is it for the 30-year-old in Philadelphia, his comments after the end of this season serve as an early goodbye to fans.

Hoskins reflected on his journey with the Phillies to this point. As a fifth-round pick by the team, Hoskins noted, "I"ve grown up here. I've learned a lot of things about life here, I've learned a lot of things about baseball here, and that's not something I take lightly."

Even away from the field, the veteran also stressed, "Baseball aside, it's a place and a group of people and an organization that I'll hold close to my heart."

Obviously the first baseman didn't know in this exact moment what the team's plans were, but he was incredibly honest while talking about his time with the Phillies. It's clear there would be no resentment on his part if Philly did decide to roll with Harper, as this place and organization has taught him so much beyond the game.

Now all eyes will be on Hoskins in free agency. With a return to Philadelphia likely ruled out, he can begin to consider other landing spots. Though his torn ACL suffered this past spring lowers his earning potential, plenty of teams should have interest in a player who's been a consistent 30-HR, 80-plus-RBI threat.
