Former Eagles Exec Roasts Cowboys for Contract Blunders

Jerry Jones' horrible negotiation tactics are well-known (and well-loved) in the Eagles front office.

The Dallas Cowboys' horrific offseason has been an absolute pleasure for Philadelphia Eagles fans to watch. Jerry Jones essentially mocking his own fan base seemed like the icing on the cake. What could top that for Philly faithful?

How about some insight from a former Eagles exec, showing just how unseriously the Cowboys' front office is taken on the NFL stage?

Joe Banner served as the Eagles' president from 2001 through 2012, and he shared some insight into what the team's front office thought about the Cowboys' strategy around contract extensions. And in short, he thought it was a great plan — at least great for the Eagles.

And you really don't need to be an NFL exec to see this playing out in real time. Jerry Jones loves to wait until the last minute to try to re-sign his stars, even when it leads to holdouts and increased asking costs. Just watch what's happening with CeeDee Lamb. He's holding out, waiting to become the NFL's highest paid wide receiver, and the market continues to get hotter and hotter, driving his asking price higher and higher.

It's happening with Dak Prescott too. And because of that, they're going to be stuck in a similar situation with Micah Parsons. All just one year after franchise cornerstone Zack Martin held out.

Considering the team hasn't even made the NFC Championship since 1995, why in the world does the front office think it should continue operating the same way? Do they think that this situation, where they drafted arguably the league's best wide receiver in Lamb and a top-five defender in Parsons but can't afford to keep them on the roster, is somehow beneficial?

It's been clear for years now that the game has completely passed Jerry Jones by. The best thing for Dallas would be to reduce his involvement in football decisions as much as possible.

But hey, for Eagles fans? Let's have Jerry Jones personally handle every single aspect of contract negotiations in Dallas. Anything that helps keep the Cowboys down in the NFC East is a-okay.
