Round 4, Pick 120: Tommy Eichenberg, LB, Ohio State

The Eagles tried to fix their linebacker corps in 2023 by signing veteran Zach Cunningham during training camp and then adding Shaq Leonard after he was released by the Indianapolis Colts. On paper, each looked fine. Cunningham had 85 tackles and four pass defenses in 13 games. Leonard played in just five games but had 23 tackles and one sack.

While the statistics were decent, the film was ugly. The Eagles were unable to stop offenses through the air or on the ground by season's end. That's why they didn't retain Leonard, Cunningham, or Nicholas Morrow — another linebacker.

Heading into 2024, they're turning to Devin White as the starter next to Nakobe Dean and they added Zack Baun for depth. The former New Orleans Saints third-round pick hasn't lived up to expectations but can still play when given a shot. Dean might be their most talented linebacker but injuries have slowed him down thus far in his career.

That's why they throw more darts at the board by bringing in Ohio State's Tommy Eichenberg with their fourth-round selection.

Eichenberg wasn't as good in 2023 as he was in 2022 but he still put up 82 tackles with 2.5 for a loss. In his career, he had 268 tackles with 21 behind the line of scrimmage. A two-time captain, Eichenberg is a throw-back player who has no issues delivering hits in the run game.
