Round 2, Pick 53: Ja'Tavion Sanders, TE, Texas

More offensive firepower makes it's way to the Eagles at pick 53.

Back on after just a couple of selections with their own pick, Philadelphia adds Texas tight end Ja'Tavion Sanders. An absolute unit, Sanders looks much larger than his 6-foot-4, 245-pound measurement.

Sanders is a decent run blocker but where he's going to make his mark is as a receiver. He has solid speed with a 4.69 in the 40-yard dash, but it's his leaping ability and strong hands that stand out. He's able to haul in just about anything within reach and is tough to bring down. More than one analyst has compared him to David Njoku of the Cleveland Browns, who had a monstrous second half in 2023.

Over the past two seasons, Sanders had 99 receptions for 1,295 yards with seven touchdowns. Those numbers could be better in the pros since he didn't have the best passing game to work with in Texas.

For Philadelphia, they have their starting tight end in Dallas Goedert but the depth behind him is questionable. Goedert is also turning 30 at the end of the season, so it would be a good idea to add a second option while also grooming someone who can take over in a few years.
