Final Eagles 7-Round Mock Before 2024 NFL Draft
By Randy Gurzi
Round 2, Pick 50: Roman Wilson, WR, Michigan
A.J. Brown has been in the news a lot since the end of last season. He was displaying poor body language when speaking to the press during their tail spin and then missed the playoff game with an injury. While out, he deleted the team from his social media which led to speculation about his future with the team.
Heading into the draft, he's rumored to be available in a trade with some projections having him used to move way up in Round 1. Here, he stays put since it's hard to find an elite pass-catcher and when Brown is focuses and locked in, he's absolutely elite. Before giving that up, the Eagles need to see if he's happier with Kellen Moore as the offensive coordinator.
Even with him on the roster, there's not enough depth for the Eagles. Brown and DeVonta Smith are both excellent but DeVante Parker is their current WR3 and he isn't the player he once was. Parris Campbell was a decent addition as well but he has yet to prove he's a consistent weapon.
That's why this pick — which was obtained in a trade with the New Orleans Saints last year — is used on Roman Wilson.
The Michigan wideout ran a 4.39 which wasn't surprising after watching him average 16.4 yards per catch with 12 touchdowns in 2023. He's not refined as a route-runner yet but can grow alongside two 1,000-yard wideouts and is already dangerous after the catch.
