Eagles Trade Defensive Lineman Within the NFC
Prior to the season there was speculation abound that the Eagles would be trading a defensive lineman, with EDGE Derek Barnett's name being floated around the most.
Less than 24 hours before the deadline the team did make a move to trade a defensive lineman, only it turned out to be an interior lineman, not an edge rusher.
Eagles Trade News: Kentavius Street to the Falcons
The Philadelphia Eagles sent defensive tackle Kentavius Street and a 2025 7th-round pick to the Atlanta Falcons in exchange for a conditional 6th-rounder in the 2024 NFL Draft.
This pick swap doesn't exactly reap the Eagles huge rewards (and the value of the pick is conditional on whether Street plays six games or not), but it's basically a "something for nothing" kind of move.
Street has played only 17% of the Eagles’ defensive snaps this season, ranking fifth among Eagles defensive tackles. He’s recorded 2 solo and 2 assisted tackles with no TFLs and no quarterback hits.
With four DTs ahead of Street, it’s not going to be hard to replace his snaps. This could also open the door for rookie Moro Ojomo to be active for a few games.
Street was only on a one-year contract anyway, so this deal also has no real long-term impacts on the makeup of the defense.
So essentially Philly loses almost nothing, and in exchange picks up a little bit more draft capital for GM Howie Roseman to work with.
It may not exactly be something for nothing, but new BetMGM users can also cash in with little downside, as your first $10 bet unlocks a guaranteed $200 bonus whether you win or lose. Turning $10 into $200 is even better than turning a backup d-tackle into a draft pick.
