The Philadelphia Eagles have been active on Thursday, making various roster changes ahead of Week 1 of the 2024 season.

Philadelphia placed veteran defensive back James Bradberry on injured reserve with a lower leg injury, promoted veteran linebacker Oren Burks to the active roster, and signed offensive lineman Brett Toth to the practice squad.

In addition to those roster moves, the Eagles picked up a former third-round pick to add to their defensive line. According to Tom Pelissero of the NFL Network, Philadelphia claimed defensive tackle Byron Young off waivers.

Young was cut by the Las Vegas Raiders on Wednesday after getting selected in the third round in the 2023 NFL Draft.

The former Alabama defensive lineman played in six games as a rookie after spending time on the PUP list last summer. The 23-year-old defensive tackle recorded four combined tackles and played 31 percent of defensive snaps.

In his last year at the University of Alabama, Young had 48 combined tackles, 5.5 tackles for loss, and four sacks. Young was rewarded for his efforts as he was named the All-SEC second team.

With the Eagles claiming the former Alabama standout off waivers, they’ll have to make room on the 53-man roster. Philadelphia already boasts a young defensive lineman which features Jalen Carter, Milton Williams, Jordan Davis, Bryce Huff, and Nolan Smith Jr.

Young will likely have to work his way into the rotation as Philadelphia also has Thomas Booker IV and Marlon Tuipulotu as their backup depth on the d-line.
