Eagles Super Bowl Legend Announces Retirement

When the Philadelphia Eagles host the Atlanta Falcons at Lincoln Financial Field on Week 2 for their home opener, they will be honoring an Eagles legend. Nick Foles, after 11 years in the NFL, is hanging up his cleats and his former team will allow him to retire as a member of the Eagles.
Foles announced his decision to retire on social media on Thursday. The 35-year-old hasn't played in the NFL since he was a member of the Indianapolis Colts for the 2022 season.
NFL News: Eagles Legend Nick Foles Announces Retirement
Foles entered the NFL as a third-round pick of the Philadelphia Eagles in 2012. Initially a backup to Michael Vick, Foles eventually got the starting job in his second year in Philadelphia, posting a ridiculous 27 touchdowns to two interceptions ratio in 2013. He earned his first Pro Bowl honors and carried the Eagles to the postseason.
It wasn't until his second stint in Philadelphia, however, that Foles became a true legend. After a couple of underwhelming seasons elsewhere, Foles returned to the Eagles as Carson Wentz's backup in 2017. After Wentz tore his ACL in Week 14, everyone wrote the Eagles off.
Foles took over, and carried the Eagles down to stretch, winning back-to-back games as a starter.
He continued his dominance through the playoffs and capped it with an incredible performance in the Super Bowl LII. His TD catch from tight end Trey Burton remains one of the most iconic moments in Super Bowl history as he became the first player to both throw and catch a touchdown pass in a Super Bowl. He finished the game with 373 yards, three passing touchdowns, and one interception on his way to winning the Super Bowl MVP.
That 2018 championship remains the only Super Bowl win in Eagles history. Foles will therefore be remembered forever in the city of Philadelphia.
