The Philadelphia Eagles are looking to bounce back from a heartbreaking loss on Monday night to the Atlanta Falcons.

The Eagles will go on the road this weekend to play the New Orleans Saints – one of the few teams that are still undefeated after two weeks. Philadelphia hopes to be 100% healthy going into the Big Easy, but that might not be the case.

According to Jeff McLane of the Philadelphia Inquirer, Eagles safety C.J. Gardner-Johnson wasn't at practice on Thursday. McLane adds that the veteran defensive back wasn’t on Wednesday’s injury report. This puts his ability to suit up against his former team in jeopardy.

The Eagles then announced their injury report after Thursday’s practice. It turns out the 26-year-old defensive back who gave up a touchdown in Monday night’s loss to the Falcons, is dealing with a foot injury.

However, Gardner-Johnson redeemed himself late in the fourth quarter against Atlanta with a key stop on fourth down on Falcons running back Bijan Robinson. Through two games this season, he has posted 11 combined tackles and a 158.3 pass rating allowed when targeted.

Nonetheless, if Gardner-Johnson were to miss Sunday’s game, the Eagles could start Tristin McCollum at strong safety or maybe put Avonte Maddox there. If Philly decides to do the latter, rookie Cooper DeJean could slot in at nickel.

That said, the Eagles will cross that bridge when they get there as they will have one more practice on Friday before heading down to New Orleans for a pivotal early-season matchup.
