The Eagles' list of free agency needs isn't a short one this offseason, and you've gotta think Vic Fangio will have some specific asks while he tries to turn around a defense that didn't even come close to living up to its potential last year.

Fangio is one of the best defensive minds in football, and if he likes a defender then that's probably one you want to have on your roster.

CBS Sports' Cody Benjamin did an interesting free agency prediction exercise, and he has the Eagles bringing in a Fangio favorite.

Eagles Free Agency Rumors: Vic Fangio to Target Andrew Van Ginkel?

Benjamin sees the Eagles adding former Miami Dolphins EDGE defender Andrew Van Ginkel. This move would either give the Eagles a complement across from Haason Reddick or a potential replacement if Reddick gets traded.

Van Ginkel played for Fangio in Miami in 2023, recording a career-high 6.0 sacks

Van Ginkel was also one of Pro Football Focus’ highest graded edge defenders on the year, with a 91.1 overall grade that not only obliterated his previous career best (79.3 in 2020) but that also ranked No. 7 among all EDGE defenders on the year.

Having a career year like that right before hitting free agency is going to send Van Ginkel's asking price skyrocketing, but considering his middling play before he paired up with Fangio, perhaps the 28-year-old might be willing to take a bit of a lower salary to stick with the coach that helped him become a star.

Whether it ends up being Van Ginkel or not, this Philly defense needs some help. Fangio is going to make a huge difference, but he'll also need some improved personnel to work with if the Eagles are serious about being contenders again.
