There hasn't been a team more aggressive this offseason in terms of improving the roster than the Philadelphia Eagles. GM Howie Roseman has used free agency, the NFL Draft, and extended key players on the roster.

Mandatory minicamps are expected to run through June 4-6 for the Eagles but they decided to make another addition before things got rolling.

Eagles News: Max Scharping Signs With Philadelphia

Zach Berman of PHLY reports that the Eagles have signed guard Max Scharping to the 90-man roster ahead of minicamp.

Scharping was selected in the second round of the 2019 NFL Draft by the Houston Texans. He spent the first three years of his career with the Houston Texans before he was claimed by the Cincinnati Bengals ahead of the 2022 season.

Scharping started 33 games for the Texans before heading to Cincinnati. During the Bengals playoff run in 2022, he started all three playoff games at right guard, replacing Alex Cappa.

The Northern Illinois product brings postseason experience with the ability to play both guard spots if needed.

In 2024, Landon Dickerson is slated to start at left guard while last year's right guard Cam Jurgens is moving to center. Now Matt Hennessey, Tyler Steen, and Trevor Keegan are the other options at guard for the Birds.

During OTAs, Steen has been taking first-team reps at right guard so it seems it's his job to lose.

Regardless, the Eagles are taking all the right steps to improve the whole roster heading into minicamps. Adding quality depth along the trenches is always the right call ahead of a grueling season.
