Eagles NFC East Odds Surge After Cowboys' Latest Offseason Disaster
By Cem Yolbulan
On paper, the Philadelphia Eagles weren't the most active team in the offseason. They remade their running back rotation by signing Saquon Barkley and basically replaced Haason Reddick with Bryce Huff. They mostly stood pat, retained their own free agents, and re-signed their key players.
However, compared to what their division rivals the Dallas Cowboys did in free agency, the Eagles' offseason was a massive success.
This caught the eyes of oddsmakers. Before the start of free agency, the Dallas Cowboys were considered the favorites to win the NFC East with +110 odds to the Eagles' +135.
Fast forward to now, less than a week away from the 2024 NFL Draft, and Philadelphia is tied for the best odds to win the division at +120 on FanDuel Sportsbook. This implies a little over 45% in implied odds for both the Eagles and the Cowboys, while the Giants and the Commanders split the rest.
NFC East Division Odds
The Dallas Cowboys lost several key starters to free agency as Jerry Jones is perhaps facing more criticism than he has in a long time. They have no starting-caliber running back, their offensive line is a shell of itself with Tyron Smith and Tyler Biadasz both gone.
Furthermore, they haven't extended the contracts of Micah Parsons, Dak Prescott, or CeeDee Lamb, creating unnecessary drama heading into training camp. Combine that with the lame duck status coach Mike McCarthy is in as he enters the final year of his contract, and you have a messy situation in Dallas.
This chaos provides an excellent opportunity for the Eagles to have a bounce-back season. The Giants and the Commanders are still rebuilding and don't seem ready to be competitive. The Cowboys are starting a season that could easily go off the rails at any point. The Eagles have plenty to prove as both Nick Sirianni and key players on the team have to show that this core is capable of winning at the highest level.
There is obviously still plenty of time left until the start of the season but you don't have to wait that long to get in on the action. Head over to FanDuel Sportsbook and claim your $150 in bonus bets after your first $5 wager.
