The Philadelphia Eagles are getting ready for tonight’s Super Wild Card weekend game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Eagles will be missing a couple of key starters on both sides of the ball.
With that being said, the Eagles have made a couple of roster changes on the defensive side of the ball ahead of tonight’s kickoff.
Eagles News: Tristin McCollum, Mekhi Garner Gets Promoted From Practice Squad
Jeff McLane of the Philadelphia Inquirer tweeted Monday that the Eagles elevated defensive back Tristin McCollum and cornerback Mekhi Garner from the practice squad for tonight’s primetime matchup.
The 24-year-old McCollum is playing his fourth game this season for the Eagles. Last week, the 6-foot-3 defensive back got extended playing time against the Giants in the regular season finale.
McCollum produced six combined tackles while playing 43% of defensive snaps (season-high) and 85% of special teams snaps. The young defensive back will likely see more snaps tonight as the Eagles reshuffle their secondary with Reed Blankenship banged up.
Meanwhile, Garner will also play in his fourth game of the season. The last time we saw the rookie on the field was in Week 15 against the Seattle Seahawks.
The Eagles did not have Darius Slay for that contest, and Garner got moved up to the active roster. The former LSU cornerback didn’t see any snaps on defense but played 63% of offensive snaps.
McCollum and Garner will likely not play huge roles in tonight’s game. However, fans should consider putting down a wager on the Eagles on FanDuel Sportsbook. All Philly fans have to do is bet $5 and will receive $150 in bonus bets whether the Eagles win or lose. This is a fantastic promo that fans should jump on before kickoff tonight.
