The Eagles have a lot of difficult decisions ahead this offseason, with an increasingly expensive roster and several critical players up for a new contract.

At least one former NFL GM believes Philly will let longtime star DT Fletcher Cox walk in free agency. Cox has been with the Eagles for 12 seasons, so this would come as a shock for Philadelphia.

Could the Eagles really let Cox go?

Eagles Rumors: Fletcher Cox on the Way Out?

Jeff Diamond, a former NFL GM for the Titans, wrote that Philadelphia's actions on the defensive line the last two seasons indicate a willingness to move on from the Eagles' best defensive player of the last decade.

"The Eagles drafted DTs Jordan Davis and Jalen Carter in the past two first rounds," writes Diamond. "That makes it likely Cox won't be re-signed if he’s looking for anything close to the $10 million he’s being paid."

He continues, "Cox turns 33 years old next week, and it’s time for Davis (2.5 sacks, 32 tackles) and Carter (4.0 sacks, 26 tackles) to be the Eagles' long-term starters at defensive tackle."

It's hard to imagine Cox in a different uniform next season, but it does make sense. Carter is the runaway favorite to win Defensive Rookie of the Year and Davis looks capable as well.

In his illustrious Eagles' career, Cox has 510 tackles, 69 sacks, 16 forced fumbles and 14 fumble recoveries. He's become synonymous with Philadelphia football, though we could be watching his final games in green. If that's the case, here's hoping Cox goes out on top.
