Eagles Legend Officially Announces Retirement From NFL

The Philadelphia Eagles have been fortunate to see a number of special players walk through their doors during their franchise's history. One recent member of the team who made an incredible impact during his time in Philly is none other than wide receiver DeSean Jackson.

Though the electric speedster has lost some of his playmaking during the later stage of his career, he's still hung around the league, including suiting up in seven games for the Baltimore Ravens in 2022.

However, it appears Jackson has finally reached end of the line in the NFL.

Jackson officially announced on Wednesday he is retiring after 15 seasons in the NFL. Though he bounced around a few different places over the last couple of seasons, Jackson plans to sign a one-day contract to ride off into the sunset as an Eagle.

The team also revealed on Wednesday he will serve as an honorary captain for this Sunday's game against the San Francisco 49ers, which is the perfect way to celebrate the next stage of his career.

Jackson spent a total of eight years with the Eagles and created plenty of memorable moments for fans as consistently as anyone. After Philadelphia, he spent time in Washington, Tampa Bay, Las Vegas, Los Angeles (Rams), and most recently Baltimore.

Father Time remains undefeated as injuries have sidelined him these past few seasons, decreasing his reliability and playing time. However, he will always be remembered as an Eagle great. He'll finish his career with 66 total touchdowns, 3 Pro Bowl nods, and a Super Bowl championship with the Rams. Now the debate will begin to determine where he stands among those in Canton, Ohio, at the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
