The Philadelphia Eagles' defense is depleted by injuries this week, but at least it's going to be an even battle. It doesn't really feel like the offense should need much help against the New York Jets, but you're not going to find anyone in Philly that would turn down some assistance either.

That assistance has arrived in the form of a surprising new injury update from the Jets on Saturday.

The Jets ruled out Sauce Gardner with a concussion on Saturday, which means that both starting cornerbacksThe Philadelphia Eagles face a depleted Jets defense this week, void of starting cornerbacks Sauce Gardner and D.J. Reed due to injuries. An opportunity for the Eagles' offense to shine, particularly for AJ Brown and DeVonta Smith. (Gardner and D.J. Reed) are out for this one.

Gardner is one of the best corners in the NFL, and Reed has had himself a great season so far in 2023 too.

That has not exactly been the case for Bryce Hall or Craig James.

Hall is in his fourth NFL season, and he’s been a backup since 2021 when he was absolutely terrible as a starter, allowing a 106.6 passer rating on the 109 pass attempts thrown his way.

Eagles fans are familiar with James, who was an eagle from 2018 through 2020. He went two years without playing a single snap before making the Jets’ active roster in 2023. That should tell you all you need to know about his game.

So while it may hurt to be without Jalen Carter, Justin Evans, Darius Slay and Quez Watkins (and maybe some others who are still questionable) this week, it's not like the injury issues are a one-way street here.

This Jets defense is going to have absolutely no hope of stopping AJ Brown and DeVonta Smith, and we could very well see Jalen Hurts throw for his third-straight 300 yard game.

With all these injuries, the over/under on his passing yards becomes a bet that a lot of people will be looking at:
