4. Zach Cunningham, LB

During his career at Vanderbilt, Zach Cunningham was an absolute menace. He was all over the field and could single-handedly destroy an offensive game plan. That’s why the Houston Texans were thrilled to land him with the 57th overall selection in the 2017 NFL Draft.

He was as advertised for Houston, recording 90 tackles as a rookie and then hitting more than 100 in each of the next three years. In 2020, he led the league with 164 tackles and added 3.0 sacks for good measure.

In 2021, however, things started to fall apart. Cunningham didn’t mesh with new head coach David Culley and wound up being released in December. The Tennessee Titans claimed him and he spent the next year and a half with them before again being released after the 2022 campaign.

Cunningham waited for a shot this past season and it wasn’t until after training camp started that he received a workout with the Eagles. He not only earned a contract but was a starter who had 85 tackles in 13 games.

Despite his success, it doesn’t feel like he’s a lock to return. The Eagles defense as a whole struggled, so new coordinator Vic Fangio might be looking for change at several key spots. That would include revamping the linebacker position where Philly has several free agents.
