Nakobe Dean's impending return to the Philadelphia Eagles is a welcome relief for a team that's been battling a spate of injuries, particularly on the defensive side.

It's been a tough week to follow Philadelphia Eagles news. Every time you look it seems like there's bad news on another key player — especially on the defensive side of the ball.

Thankfully that changed quickly on Friday morning, with some outstanding news coming in ahead of Sunday's clash with the New York Jets.

Eagles News: Nakobe Dean Injury Update

Nakobe Dean returned to the practice field earlier this week, opening his 21-day window to return from IR, and it sounds like he's already set to be activated in time to suit up against the Jets.

Dean has been on the shelf with a foot injury since Week 1, and he's missed the IR minimum of four games.

Nicholas Morrow stepped in as an every-down starter in Dean's place immediately in Week 2, and has been terrific. It is perhaps Zach Cunningham, in the other off-ball linebacker spot, who may end up seeing his playing time cut to make room for Dean as he works his way back up to full speed.

The Eagles will also need to remove someone from their 53-man roster to make space for Dean, which could mean the placing of someone else on IR (though there are no obvious candidates at the moment) or the release of a depth piece. Someone like Mario Goodrich could be on the way out.

Whether Dean is full-go on Sunday or not, this is a nice boost for a Philly defense that is getting decimated with injuries right now.

Backing the Eagles against the Jets is easy to like, but Philly has certainly made its supporters sweat this season.
