The Philadelphia Eagles have been missing one of their most prized additions of the offseason. Their second-round pick Cooper DeJean was placed on the non-football injury list to open training camp after hurting his hamstring during an individual workout. Eagles fans can finally breathe a sigh of relief as we finally got word that the talented defender out of Iowa was back at practice on Tuesday.

Even though DeJean was a limited participant doing individual work while the Eagles held joint practice with the New England Patriots, it's a great sign that he is back out there after a lengthy absence.

Cooper DeJean Back at Eagles Practice on Tuesday

The Eagles have a walkthrough practice on Wednesday, followed by a preseason game against New England on Thursday. DeJean will almost certainly not play in that game. He would presumably be a full participant over the weekend, giving him plenty of time to be ready against the Packers on September 6 in Brazil.

It behooves the Eagles to be as cautious as possible with DeJean. The defensive back's final season at Iowa ended prematurely after fracturing his fibula in November.

Philadelphia also selected cornerback Quinyon Mitchell in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft. After struggling immensely on the secondary last season, the Eagles have a revamped defensive backfield. Darius Slay, Kelee Ringo, and Quinyon Mitchell may be ahead of DeJean in the depth chart but as one of the most versatile players in the league, DeJean will almost certainly find a way to contribute, even as a rookie.
