Round 3: Marist Liufau, LB, Notre Dame

Back on the clock in Round 3, the Eagles decide to add some depth to their linebacker corps. They added Shaq Leonard late in the year, hoping he could help improve the unit, but they continued to struggle. Now heading into free agency, Leonard is set to hit the open market as are Zach Cunningham and Nicholas Morrow.

They’ll be leaning more on Nakobe Dean if they’re unable to bring their starters back but he’s struggled with durability. That means they need more players they can rely on, which brings us to Marist Liufau.

He’s not known as an overly-powerful defender against the run but Liufau is scheme versatile and is solid in coverage. He could develop into a starter down the road while being able to contribute as a rookie.

Round 4: Walter Rouse, OT, Oklahoma

With their fourth-round pick, Philadelphia lands Walter Rouse from Oklahoma. Rouse stands in at 6-6 and 320 pounds. He spent three years at Stanford before moving to Oklahoma and was a solid left tackle at each stop.

He’s praised for his football intelligence and pass protection. The Eagles have a stout offensive line but could stand to upgrade their swing tackle. That’s what Rouse offers them, and he could become a starter with the right coaching.
