The Philadelphia Eagles started the 2023 season 10-1 before collapsing in the second half of the season.

The Eagles dropped six of the last seven games, including an embarrassing 32-9 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the Wild Card Round.

That led to the Eagles making drastic changes over the offseason, which featured both coordinators being let go, including Brian Johnson. Philadelphia then pivoted and hired Kellen Moore to become the offensive coordinator and replace the aforementioned Johnson.

WR DeVonta Smith is happy with the transition to Moore and seems to be thrilled with new-look offense.

Eagles News: DeVonta Smith Takes a Shot at Former Offensive Coordinator Brian Johnson

In a presser with reporters on June 4, Smith showed his excitement about the offense now being run by Moore. The Alabama product expressed that last year they couldn't move around much, which limited their ability to create favorable opportunities.

Now with Moore at the helm, they are moving around way more and utilizing bunch formations, which create much more space.

In five of the last seven games for the Eagles last year, they scored fewer than 20 points. There were times when the offense played with no rhythm and didn't seem to have a plan to bounce back against defenses.

In addition, Smith didn't lead the team in receiving yards during that stretch until the playoff game, where he reeled in 128 yards.

Even though Smith finished the 2023 season with 81 receptions for 1,066 yards and seven touchdowns, there was a lot of meat left on the bone there. The 2021 first-round pick logged fewer than 55 yards in eight outings during the regular season.

The offense features too many dynamic weapons like Smith, Jalen Hurts. A.J. Brown, Dallas Goedert, and newly added Saquon Barkley. The days of lackluster offensive play should be behind them and Smith is ready to roll in 2024.
