The Philadelphia Eagles entered the offseason with questions to answer after a disappointing end to the 2023 season. GM Howie Roseman found different avenues to improve the team, including free agency, and the NFL Draft but also retaining a bunch of key players.

They extended Landon Dickerson (four-year, $84 million) and Jordan Mailata (three-year, $66 million) along the offensive line. Philly kept their playmakers around and turned their attention to WR.

The Eagles gave A.J. Brown a massive three-year, $96 million contract extension right before the NFL draft. This deal came 10 days after they extended DeVonta Smith. On April 15, he got a three-year, $75 million extension, with $51 million guaranteed.

There have been rumblings that Smith misplayed the WR market but he clarified that he's happy with his deal.

Eagles News: DeVonta Smith Doesn't Think He's Underpaid

After Smith inked his deal, he watched as Amon-Ra St. Brown (four-year, $120 million), Jaylen Waddle (three-year, $84.75 million), and Justin Jefferson (four-year, $140 million) all get big-time deals.

Despite seeing this happen around the NFL, Smith remained unfazed and doesn't regret his decision.

"You can’t be counting the pockets of others. I’m where I want to be. This is where I wanted to be. At the end of the day, it was still life-changing for me. Those guys that got their deals, they deserve it. Great players and great people. At the end of the day, we’re all blessed."

DeVonta Smith

This is exactly what you want to hear from your young pass catcher as an Eagles fan. Smith is showcasing his maturity and excitement to be a part of this team going forward.

Since entering the league in 2021, the Alabama product has been a terrific playmaker. In three seasons with Philadelphia, he totaled 240 receptions (352 targets) for 3,178 receiving yards, and 19 touchdowns.

He's signed through 2028 and both sides are thrilled heading into the year.
