The 2023-24 season was a frustrating one for 76ers fans. Things got off to a great start and then Joel Embiid went down with a knee injury.

Philadelphia ended up being bounced in the first round of the 2024 NBA Playoffs and are looking to bolster this roster for a run next season.

There have been rumors that the 76ers will be interested in Paul George this offseason but a new report has come out revealing that Philly could have their eyes on someone else as a backup plan.

76ers News: Zach LaVine May Be A Backup Plan for Philadelphia

Senior NBA Reporter Jake Fischer stated that Chicago guard Zach LaVine may be a backup option for the 76ers.

Fischer said, "Striking out on a big-time wing would also leave the door open for Philadelphia to consider taking back a player such as Zach LaVine, sources said, in the event Chicago or another team is willing to attach draft capital to move off salary."

76er fans may be put off by this option due to the injury history of LaVine. Just last season, LaVine only played 25 games after he suffered a season-ending foot injury. He's also dealt with knee issues throughout his career but the 29-year-old is a high-quality offensive playmaker when healthy.

He can score from all three levels with ease with the ability to create his shot off the dribble. In his career, LaVine averages 20.5 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 3.9 assists per game.

Philly did say they would only consider it if Chicago or another team added some draft capital to move off salary.

In July 2022, LaVine and the Bulls agreed on a five-year, $215 million max. He's under contract for the next three years and is slated to make $43 million next season.

There would need to be some hurdles cleared before a deal is facilitated but the 76ers do have an eye on LaVine.
