Darius Slay Hints at Potential Reunion with Former Teammate on Eagles
The Philadelphia Eagles have the funds to make moves during the offseason. Per OvertheCap, they are sitting on $39.6 million in cap space.
Players around the league are being released as we approach free agency. Teams are looking to add some extra cap space and there is veteran safety now on the market. The Seattle Seahawks have released safeties Jamal Adams and Quandre Diggs on Mar. 5.
The Eagles have a clear need at safety and one of these guys would significantly fill that void. Even CB Darius Slay likes that idea and went on X to add some fuel to the fire.
Eagles Rumors: Darius Slay is Intrigued at the Idea of Quandre Diggs Coming to Philly
On Mar. 1, the Eagles released safety Kevin Byard after just one season. They have Sydney Brown on the roster but he is rehabbing a torn ACL. That only leaves Reed Blakenship on the team as a starting safety.
The Eagles will certainly look to upgrade that position and Diggs is an interesting option.
Diggs and Slay were teammates with the Detroit Lions from 2015-2019. They have chemistry together and could be a nice duo on the backend.
Diggs has excellent instincts to generate turnovers but is also willing to come down to make a tackle. Across his nine-year career, the Texas product has compiled 580 total tackles, 56 pass deflections, and 24 interceptions, snagging at least three picks in four of the last five seasons.
Additionally, the Eagles brought Clint Hurtt and Roy Anderson onto the staff, who coached for the Seahawks last season. There are familiar faces in Philly that could entice Diggs if they are interested in his services.
