What Eagles fans had long feared since their playoff loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers became a reality on Monday. Iconic center Jason Kelce announced his retirement after 13 seasons in Philadelphia.

As expected as this was, it caused shockwaves around the Eagles fanbase as it represented the end of an era. But, the city of Philadelphia is bidding the future Hall of Famer a goodbye that he deserves.

After the retirement announcement, a thank you message to the future Hall of Famer went up on city billboards.

Jason Kelce Billboards Spotted in Philadelphia After Retirement News

Kelce holds a rare position in the history of the NFL as one of the only offensive linemen to become the face of a franchise. He holds the record for most consecutive starts in Eagles history. He is the fifth center ever with at least six All-Pro selections. He played an integral part of the only Super Bowl in team history.

However, more than the on-field accomplishments, what sets Kelce apart, is the way he embodied the Philadelphia spirit. He has been the heart and soul of this team ever since he was drafted in the sixth round in 2011. Despite being undersized for his position, he made an incredible career for himself through his hard-nosed, blue-collar mentality.

One of the greatest Eagles of all time, it's only a matter of time before Kelce will find himself in the Hall of Fame. Until then, he should enjoy all the kegs he can and continue chugging beers at his younger brother's games.
