By Thomas Erbe
As the MLB Winter Meetings conclude in Nashville, Tennessee, rumors are still swirling about a lot of unknowns. What is always known is at some point, well-known agent Scott Boras is going to huddle up all the beat writers he can find to have a presser about his clients.
Usually, he has a lot of funny sayings and plays on words, hinting at his clients wanting more money. But this time, unannounced to us, he decided to talk about a client on the Philadelphia Phillies who is currently under contract.
Boras told reporters that his client, Bryce Harper, has requested he discuss a contract extension with the Phillies to keep Harper in Philadelphia for the remainder of his career.
Report: Harper wants to stay in Philadelphia for remainder of career
Harper signed with the Phillies in 2019 for 13 years, through his age age-38 season in 2031. Boras says the All-Star star wants to play into his forties and wants to make sure it is in Philly, where he has grown to call home.
Harper has appeared become one with Philly, it seems. He has adapted to the lifestyle and the fans have accepted him as one of their own.
When he came to the Phillies, the expectations skyrocketed immediately because of his presence. Recently, the Phillies have seen momentous success, reaching a World Series and two straight NLCS appearances in the last two seasons.
Remember, the Washington Nationals won a World Series right after Harper chose to leave them. He has still yet to win it all. There is no doubt Harper has the goal in mind to bring a championship to Philadelphia and Phillie fans.
