The Philadelphia Eagles’ offense has gone through its ups and downs this season with first-year offensive coordinator Brian Johnson. This season, the Eagles were ranked seventh in scoring offense (25.5 points per game), eighth in rushing (128.8 ypg), and 16th in passing (225.5).

All still good numbers in the grand scheme of things, but it doesn’t equate to what we’ve seen on the field from Philly throughout the season. Nonetheless, the first-year offensive coordinator will get some looks this offseason for head coaching opportunities, and we already know one team that will talk to him.

Eagles News: Brian Johnson Receives Interest from Carolina

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported Wednesday that the Carolina Panthers are expected to interview Johnson for their head-coaching job.

The NFL insider spoke highly of Johnson on 97.5 The Fanatic in Philadelphia on Wednesday, saying that he still thinks the first-year offensive coordinator will be a head coach one day and he's still highly respected.

The Panthers are searching for a new head coach after they fired Frank Reich in November after the team started 1-10 with rookie QB Bryce Young.

After firing Reich, the Panthers named special teams coordinator Chris Tabor the interim head coach, who went 1-5 in the last six games.

It doesn’t come as a surprise to see Carolina interview Johnson as he’s played a part in Jalen Hurts’ success in the NFL. Before being named the offensive coordinator last offense, Johnson was the Eagles’ quarterback coach in 2021 and 2022. Hurts took a massive leap in 2022, and the Panthers could be hoping for similar success for Bryce Young.

However, Carolina’s offense wasn’t great this season as they were tied for dead last in scoring (13.9 ppg) with the New England Patriots and ranked 20th in rushing (104.1 ypg). If Johnson were to get hired in Carolina, they would need to continue to retool and revamp that offense to help out their young quarterback.

But before Johnson can think about interviewing with the Panthers, he has a playoff game to game plan for on Monday Night Football against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Eagles fans have been critical of Johnson and the Birds this season, but maybe they’ll figure it out on Monday.
