The Philadelphia Eagles are heading into a pivotal 2024 season. After the epic collapse the team suffered in the second half of the 2023 campaign, the organization has plenty to prove for next season. This includes head coach Nick Sirianni.

Sirianni is entering his fourth season as the Eagles head coach. It's hard to argue with the results as he led the team to three straight postseasons, including a Super Bowl appearance. However, how last season ended certainly left a bad taste in Eagles fans' mouths and put Sirianni on the hot seat. Another underwhelming season this year and the 42-year-old coach might be gone.

Bill Belichick Has His Eyes on the Eagles Job for Next Season

Lurking in the shadows waiting for this to happen is one legendary coach. According to the latest ESPN report on Bill Belichick's future, the six-time Super Bowl winner is eyeing the Eagles' job if it becomes available next January.

"He is believed to be biding his time until next January for openings on teams he has told confidants he would be interested in coaching: the Dallas Cowboys, Philadelphia Eagles and New York Giants."

In the shocking piece by Don Van Natta Jr, Seth Wickersham, and Jeremy Fowler, it's reported that Belichick will be waiting this season out by not coaching and looking at his options next offseason.

Belichick was on the job market this winter, interviewing with the Atlanta Falcons. The teams looking for their next head coach eventually went another route and Belichick will instead be starting a career in TV.

The iconic coach's shortlist of teams makes plenty of sense. Not only are the Cowboys, Eagles, and Giants huge-market teams but they all have a risk of disappointing next season and needing a new head coach. Coming in as a savior to one of these organizations after they underwhelm in another season will set Belichick up nicely in his next job.

It's still too early to make these predictions, however. FanDuel Sportsbook has set the Eagles over/under in win totals at 10.5 for next season. If Sirianni manages to go over and make a deep postseason run, it will be hard for Philly to move on from him.
