AJ Brown Believes a Star Playmaker Has Another Gear To Hit in 2024

With training camp in full swing, we are getting a better idea of what to expect from each player heading into the new NFL season. The Philadelphia Eagles, desperate to erase the bad taste the 2023 campaign left in their mouth, are trying to get back to the Super Bowl. With that objective in mind, they will be relying on their two star wide receivers once again.
AJ Brown and DeVonta Smith, fresh off major contract extensions this summer, will continue to be the two biggest offensive weapons for Jalen Hurts in the new season. In fact, Brown thinks that Smith will hit a new gear in his fourth year in the NFL. According to the three-time Pro Bowler, no one has been able to cover Smith all training camp. "Nobody’s been able to cover DeVonta all camp. He’s having an amazing camp. I’m expecting Smitty to take another jump because he definitely has all the tools. And, for me, sitting on the side watching him, I know how hard he works. So, he makes everybody around him better, so that’s what we want."

Ever since the Eagles traded for Brown in the 2022 offseason, he has been one of the best playmakers in the NFL. He hasn't missed a game in two years and recorded back-to-back 1,400+ receiving yards seasons and a total of 18 touchdowns. As a result, he signed a three-year, $96 million extension in April.
Smith signed a similarly lucrative extension this spring when he agreed to a three-year, $75 million deal to stay with the Eagles. The tenth-overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft has been consistently productive in Philadelphia, scoring 19 touchdowns in total and registering 3,178 yards in three seasons.
If Brown is right and there is another gear to Smith, that extension is going to look like a bargain and the Eagles will have one of the most potent offenses in the NFL.
