The 2023-24 season was a very frustrating one for the Philadelphia 76ers. They were one of the top teams in the Eastern Conference before Joel Embiid tore his meniscus on Jan. 30 against the Golden State Warriors.

Embiid ended up returning to the floor but the 76ers locked in the seventh seed in the Eastern Conference. They were bounced in the first round by the New York Knicks and have shifted their focus to next season.

The 76ers are expected to be aggressive in the free agent market to add another playmaker to the team but the latest report is bad news for Philly.

76ers News: The Expectation is that Paul George Re-Signs With the Clippers

Paul George is expected to opt out of his $48.8 million option to become a free agent this offseason. Philly needs to add a dynamic playmaker to the frontcourt and George was on their radar.

But the way things sound right now, George is going to stay in Los Angeles. Shams Charania of the Athletic and Stadium was a guest on the 'Up & Adams Show with Kay Adams' and discussed the rumors around the league.

He said people around the league have the belief that George will stay in Los Angeles.

George, a Los Angeles native, has been with the Clippers since 2019. Although both sides haven't been able to lock down an extension, it seems like they are trending into that direction.

In five seasons with the Clippers, George averaged 23 points, six rebounds, and 4.5 assists per game. He's exactly what the 76ers need on their roster but it looks like that won't become a reality.

Things can certainly change but as of right now, it sounds like George will head back to Los Angeles.
