With Marcus Mariota entering free agency, the Eagles don't have a proven backup quarterback behind Jalen Hurts. But they could land one by signing the player Mariota replaced.

Gardner Minshew spent two seasons in Philadelphia and proved to be a decent backup. While the team was just 1-3 in the games he started, he finished with respectable numbers. Minshew completed 62.5 percent of his attempts for 1,102 yards with a 7-to-4 touchdown-to-interception ratio.

He then joined the Indianapolis Colts in the offseason, following his former offensive coordinator, Shane Steichen. It proved to be a good move for Indy since rookie Anthony Richardson was lost for the season after just four starts. With him out, Minshew took over and led them to a 7-6 record and they just missed making the playoffs.

Minshew now enters free agency again and he has a solid resume. He's completed 62.6 percent of his passes for 9,937 yards with 59 touchdowns and just 24 picks. He's not someone who can carry a team but he's more than capable of keeping an offense on task. The Colts will surely want him back but if there was any shot of getting him back in Philly, they should jump at that.
