5. Albert Okwuegbunam, Jr., Tight End

If anyone needed a strong showing in Week 2 (and even Week 3) of the preseason, it was tight end Albert Okwuegbunam. A standout pass-catcher at Missouri, Okwuegbunam was selected in the fourth round of the 2020 NFL Draft by the Denver Broncos after he had 23 touchdowns in three seasons.

With Denver, he showed flashes in year two by hauling in 33 receptions for 330 yards with two touchdowns. From there, his production fell off a cliff. He managed just 10 catches for 95 yards in 2022. He was traded to the Eagles for a seventh-round pick last August but hardly saw the field. Despite the backup tight ends struggling to offer help in the passing game, Albert O played in just four games and had no receptions (with only one pass target going his way).

He still had a shot of redeeming himself this season but was unlikely to unseat C.J. Uzomah as TE2. He could still find a way to surpass Grant Calcaterra as TE3 but that no longer feels like an option.

Okwuegbunam wasn't impressive in their preseason opener and then missed practice leading up to their second game due to an abdomen injury. He wound up sitting, which doesn't help him at all as he fights for a roster spot.

At this point, he might not even have a chance at the practice squad should he fail to make the 53-man roster. E.J. Jenkins had a strong showing with 47 yards on five receptions against the Patriots making him a more ideal option.
