Marcus Mariota's contract voided for the 2024 league year on Monday, meaning that (as expected) he's set to become an unrestricted free agent in March.

Choosing to hit the open market rather than re-sign with the Eagles may not have been Mariota's decision (he did little to prove to the team that he deserved to be brought back) and now the search is on for a new backup for Jalen Hurts.

Here are the five most likely options.

5. Tyrod Taylor

We got to see firsthand that Tyrod Taylor can still sling it when he carved the Eagles up for 297 yards on 23-of-32 (72%) passing with a 98.0 passer rating in Week 18.

This is nothing new for Taylor, either, as the 34-year-old has been one of the NFL's better backup quarterbacks since his run as a full-time starter ended back in 2017.

The 2023 season marked only his second time since 2017 starting at least 5 games in a season, and he more than rose to the occasion. His 89.1 passer rating on the year matches what Jalen Hurts posted and would be tied for No. 20 in the NFL if he'd played enough games to qualify.

Taylor's not as mobile as he once was, he can still scramble when needed and racked up about 200 yards on the ground. That's important, because Hurts' backup needs to at least have some mobility to be able to limit the changes needed if they do have to make any starts should Hurts get injured.
