5 Eagles Whose Stock is Rising After OTAs
2. Quinyon Mitchell, CB
Rodgers wasn't the only player in the secondary to stir some positive buzz in May, however, as rookie Quinyon Mitchell impressed as well.
The first-round pick got off to a hot start with some strong coverage in the team's first open session to the media, blanketing wide receiver Jacob Harris and then jumping a route a little later to register a pass breakup.
Meanwhile, veteran CB Darius Slay offered some major praise of the rookie, saying he loves his off-man coverage and sees "great talent" in the Toledo product.
Now, the Mitchell hype wasn't as loud in the second week. NBC Sports Philadelphia's Dave Zangaro even said the No. 22 pick "didn’t see much action" in one of the final sessions, which was a banner day for the defense as it registered four INTs on the day.
That being said, the early signs from Mitchell are encouraging at the very least. Nothing is guaranteed despite him being a first-round pick, so there's a real chance he crashed and burned during these first workouts.
Given he was already making plays and showing off his incredible coverage instincts, those are promising signs as he gears up for his first NFL season.
3. Parris Campbell, WR
On the other side of the ball, Philadelphia enjoyed some nice surprises from skill-position players during its two weeks of OTAs, with veteran Parris Campbell being one of them.
Campbell joined the team as a potential contender for the WR3 spot alongside AJ Brown and DeVonta Smith, which the Eagles have struggled to fill since forming that elite duo. He was far from the only option, though, with fellow vet Devante Parker providing the most established competitor.
However, Campbell's play and Parker's unexpected retirement now leaves him as the favorite to be this offense's third wideout.
The former Colt put together a strong showing during these workouts. He got regular work with the first team as Smith was absent, demonstrating some early trust from the coaching staff. The veteran responded by thriving in the slot and appearing to already establish a connection with Hurts.
Following a down year in New York, it appears Campbell reuniting with Nick Sirianni (who was his former offensive coordinator in Indianapolis) is already paying dividends for both himself and the WR3-needy Eagles.
