Eagles MVP: Jalen Hurts

There were some doubts about Jalen Hurts through the first couple weeks of the season. I'll admit I was even getting a little worried. I wasn't convinced the offensive struggles were all Brian Johnson's fault.

But Jalen Hurts shut the doubters up pretty quickly.

He’s still dealing with some turnover issues — that 3-interception game against the New York Jets still lingering as a bad taste in fans’ mouths — but he’s more than made up for it with his upside.

His 2,347 yards with 15 touchdowns to 8 interceptions don’t do him justice either. That puts him on pace for a career-high 260.8 yards per game, but the TD-to-INT ratio is a little ugly. Only Cowboys fans would argue that you shouldn’t count his rushing touchdowns though.

Hurts has added 7 scores on the ground, and when he’s the reason they’re getting to the 1-yard-line to punch it in with a QB sneak anyway, how can you not credit him for the score?

So a more holistic look with 22 touchdowns to 8 interceptions suddenly seems a lot better.

As it is he’s No. 6 in the NFL in passing touchdowns, plus he’s No. 3 in the NFL in rushing touchdowns (not to mention No. 3 among all quarterbacks with 316 rushing yards).

Hurts remains the engine driving the offense that ranks third in the NFL yards (376.8) and second in points (28.0) per game, and he's clearly the Eagles' MVP at the halfway point.
