Eagles Defensive Rookie of the Year: Jalen Carter

Here's one that's even easier, even though there's technically more competition.

With two defensive first-round picks in the 2023 NFL Draft, we knew Philly was going to have some rookies making a big contribution on that side of the ball. Then there was Sydney Brown fighting for a starting spot as a third-round pick and even undrafted rookie Eli Ricks earning some run at cornerback.

But it didn't even take one full game for this to become a runaway.

The Jalen Carter hype seemed like it might have been a little out of control in the offseason, but he immediately lived up to it in his debut. And then lived up to it again. And again. And again.

Carter is an overwhelming favorite to win NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year, so what question is there about whether he deserves it most among Eagles players?

Don't get me wrong, I'm excited about Nolan Smith and Sydney Brown, and this rookie class could produce four or five long-term starters on defense when all is said and done.

But this one's really not a competition.
