4 Phillies Who Could Be Suiting Up For Their Last Game in Philadelphia on Tuesday
3. Aaron Nola
Nola won't be playing after starting Game 6, of course, but it could be his last game with the team all the same.
Despite some interesting comments recently, it's clearly going to be a stressful time following the Phillies-Aaron Nola negotiations this offseason.
Talks fell apart the last time the two sides were negotiating a new contract, leaving Nola playing out the final year of his deal with no extension.
His play in the postseason should certainly have the Phillies willing to up their offer, but it may well increase his asking price too. That's especially true because he's already got some big-name suitors rumored to be interested in his services.
Nola does honestly sound like he does want to stay in Philadelphia, but at the end of the day baseball is a business. If the numbers aren't right he's not going to compromise and sign with a team that leaves him feeling underpaid and underappreciated.
Phillies fans, of course, will be hoping that ownership loosens up the purse strings.
Despite how Monday’s start went (and really, he was set up to fail by being left in the game too long), Nola remains a fan favorite and has posted ERA’s below 4.00 in six of his nine seasons with the Phils.
