4 Phillies on Thin Ice Heading Into Spring Training

Philadelphia Phillies have largely been silent this offseason but there are a few players who may not be safe heading into the season.

4. Edmundo Sosa

Another player who doesn't have a path to playing time is Edmundo Sosa. Even though 2023 became his best season at the place, it's hard to see Sosa's role expanding as long as Stott, Alec Bohm, and Trea Turner are there.

Sosa just signed another one-year contract extension to avoid arbitration. He is a versatile ballplayer who could play multiple positions and he will likely continue to be utilized as a late-inning defensive replacement. Yet, his defense may have taken a step back last year as well. If he is not an elite defender going forward, he might not be worth keeping around past this season.
