Paul George

This is probably the dream scenario for the Sixers. Paul George has long been considered the ideal free agent target for Philadelphia and that makes a ton of sense.

George has been one of the best three-and-D wings in the NBA for a long time. He doesn't need the ball in his hands and can fit around any star. He can act as a secondary playmaker on top of his elite shooting and high-level scoring. He is a great perimeter defender who can guard multiple positions.

The biggest weakness on Philadelphia's roster is high-level wing play. George is the best wing on the free-agent market who is expected to change teams this summer. Despite turning 34, George appeared in 74 games last season and averaged 22.6 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 3.5 assists per game on 47.1/41.3/90.7% shooting splits. He may not be as productive as his earlier years but he is still highly efficient and very impactful.

Yes, there is a real chance that the max contract the Sixers will likely have to give George will not age well. The last couple of years of that deal might turn ugly. But Philly's championship window is now with Embiid just having turned 30. The Sixers need to prioritize the next two seasons to win a title and George definitely helps accomplish that.
