Klay Thompson

Shooting is the premium skill in the NBA, especially if you already have two offensive engines in place. Surrounding your stars on offense with elite shooting goes a long way. Having your off-ball threats have gravity that takes attention away from your stars is an excellent way to ensure the success of your offense.

Who better to provide that shooting threat than one of the best shooters of all-time?

Klay Thompson is becoming an unrestricted free agent for the first time in his illustrious career. At age 34, he is obviously not the player he once was, but he is still a very serious threat offensively.

In the 2023-24 season, Thompson made 3.5 threes per game on 38.7% shooting, averaging 17.9 points per game. He is a step slower on the defensive end but he can still hold his own against bigger players rather than quick, athletic guards.

Whether Thompson can be a Sixer depends on his price tag. If Philly can get him for less than $25 million per year, he would be an excellent addition. Get Klay and another two-way wing (like Caldwell-Pope) and you have the skeleton of a title contender around Maxey and Embiid.
