4 Former 76ers Philly Needs To Bring Back This Offseason

The Philadelphia 76ers have a ton of cap space and desire to be active in the offseason. They should think about bringing back a few former Sixers.

Markelle Fultz

Alright, I know no Sixers fan wants to see the name Markelle Fultz associated with their team again. It just brings back too many nightmarish memories. But his basketball fit for this team is undeniably good.

Fultz will clearly never be the player Sixers fans hoped he would be after being the No. 1 overall pick back in 2017. However, the 25-year-old has done an admirable job adjusting his game and turning himself into a productive role player.

The shooting is still very much a problem. He is a complete non-shooter, refusing to take any threes unless he is left wide open. Even then, he only made 27.5% of them as a member of the Orlando Magic.

The defense, on the other hand, is a different story. He is an excellent defensive guard with the ability to guard multiple positions and navigate through screens. He forces a ton of turnovers and gets his team out in transition. He can still create good shots for his teammates, especially in full court.

Fultz is an unrestricted free agent this summer. He is not going to get anything close to his three-year, $50 million extension he got back in 2020. But if he is willing to come back to Philadelphia, he would be a good, affordable option as a sixth-man and next to Tyrese Maxey.
