3 Wide Receivers Eagles Should Target on the Trade Market
By Cem Yolbulan
Tyler Lockett, Seattle Seahawks
The former third-round pick spent his entire career in Seattle. Even though the 31-year-old veteran is not the same player he once was, he is still a productive receiver entering his tenth year in the league. He is reliable, and consistent, and is coming off a season in which he put up 79 catches, 894 yards, and five touchdowns in 17 games.
As a young offensive weapon, Lockett was a threat in the running game as well as the return game. As he aged, his game obviously changed as well. He is better suited in a smaller role that he would have in Philadelphia as a WR3.
Prior to this offseason, Lockett restructured his deal with the Seahawks. He had two years and $34 million remaining on the four-year, $69 million extension he had signed back in 2021. By restructuring, he helped Seattle open up significant cap space while lowering his 2024 salary from $27 million to closer to $17 million.
All of this suggests that Lockett might be difficult to poach from the Seahawks. However, Seattle is going a different direction this year after parting ways with Pete Carroll. First-time head coach Mike Macdonald might be overseeing a rebuild. If the Seahawks are looking like they are going to miss the postseason again, they might prefer to get draft capital in return for Lockett.
