3 Trades the 76ers Can Make Next to Keep Joel Embiid Happy
The Philadelphia 76ers finally closed the James Harden era for good on Tuesday by sending the disgruntled star to the Los Angeles Clippers. With that out of the way, Philly can now focus on bolstering its roster with the assets it acquired to ensure Joel Embiid's happiness.
With that in mind, here are three players the team should target to get Embiid some extra help.
76ers Trade Targets After James Harden Deal
1. Zach LaVine
The Sixers still look like one of the Eastern Conference's best teams despite the Harden trade, which means one move is all it takes to vault them back to the top alongside the Milwaukee Bucks and Boston Celtics.
Perhaps the biggest name garnering trade buzz early into this season is Zach LaVine, who provides the kind of splashy target to give Philadelphia a big boost.
LaVine is a prolific scorer, as evidenced by his average of 25.1 points per game over the last five seasons. While he's not primarily a distributor, he's stil more than capable of setting his teammates up (4.5 APG over that same stretch).
Boasting nice size at 6-foot-5 and incredible athleticism, LaVine would give the 76ers a dynamic talent who could make an impact in a variety of ways. He'd instantly step in as another threatening ball-handler alongside Tyrese Maxey, creating another top-flight guard duo in Philadelphia's backcourt.
LaVine brings the exact kind of offensive firepower Philly needs to keep up with Milwaukee and Boston after their scoring-focused additions this offseason. An Embiid-LaVine-Maxey trio would be primed to do some serious damage given each player's strengths.
