3 Top Prospects Who Could Surprisingly Fall to the Eagles at No. 22
By Jovan Alford
3. Jared Verse, Florida State
Even though I mentioned that the former Florida State standout is one of the top pass rushers in this class and should be drafted early in the first round.
However, there’s a chance that Verse could be available when the Eagles pick at No. 22 overall, especially if we see the run on QBs, WRs, OL, and CBs happen. Verse would be a great pick at No. 22 overall as he could start immediately as a rookie.
The former University at Albany standout had a great final two seasons at Florida State, posting 29.5 tackles for loss and 18 sacks. Some draft experts believed Verse could’ve been a top-15 pick in last year’s draft after he had 48 total tackles, 17 tackles for loss, and nine sacks.
But Verse decided to come back for one more season and helped the Seminoles become one of the better defenses in the country. The 6-foot-4 defensive end explodes off the ball and doesn’t take a play-off, which you love to see if you are a prospective team looking to add a pass rusher to your defensive line.
The Eagles might have Bryce Huff, Josh Sweat, Brandon Graham, and Nolan Smith Jr., but they will need more pass rushers as they try to make up for the loss of Haason Reddick.
