3 Realistic Trade Targets the 76ers Must Consider When NBA Trade Season Opens
By Joe Summers
The Sixers look like one of the NBA's best teams, sitting at 15-7 narrowly behind the Celtics for the No. 1 seed in the Eastern Conference.
That being said, glaring holes pervade the roster and a number of potential trade targets stick out when considering Philly's long-term prospects. Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey are enjoying perhaps career-best years, but how can the roster be improved?
The unofficial "NBA Trade season" opens on December 15, when most players who signed new deals this offseason first become eligible to be moved.
Let's go through three potential trade targets for the Sixers as we near the quarter-mark of the NBA season.
76ers Rumors: 3 Ideal Trade Targets
1. OG Anunoby - Toronto Raptors
Anunoby is not only a neat player with neat shoes, but he's the literal perfect fit for the 76ers' current roster.
The 2017 first-round pick out of Indiana is one of the NBA's best defenders, averaging over a steal per game in each of the last five seasons. He's the prototypical "3-and-D" wing player, shooting over 37% for his career from beyond the arc.
Toronto would be best-served to move on from not only Anunoby but Pascal Siakam as well, though the latter would require considerably more trade equity. Anunoby represents the kind of complimentary player that could maximize Tobias Harris' skill set while buoying Embiid and Maxey's in the process.
Admittedly, Daryl Morey's reluctance to overpay in trades could make an Anunoby acquisition difficult, particularly considering Raptors' GM Masai Ujiri's similar attitude.
In any case, there's no player more adequately suited to fix the 76ers' concerns at a relatively limited cost.
