3 Potential Busts the Eagles Must Avoid With No. 22 Pick
3. Laiatu Latu, EDGE, UCLA
With Haason Reddick trade rumors popping up already this offseason, as well as the reality that the Eagles might have to start considering life without players like Brandon Graham and Derek Barnett, the edge position could very well pop up in round one of the 2024 NFL Draft.
Understandably so.
Even though the Eagles have Nolan Smith waiting in the wings, it's possible that one of the top values on the board when Philadelphia is up at pick #22 overall in the first round is someone like UCLA edge Laiatu Latu. And as of right now, it wouldn't be shocking to see the former UCLA star end up lasting into the second day of the NFL Draft due to medical concerns.
The Eagles simply can't take the risk with Laiatu's medical history. A neck injury he sustained while at Washington could loom large over whether or not he ends up as a top 32 pick entirely. The risk could be too great for a team like Philadelphia, which doesn't really need to force-feed an investment for the future if they're trying to get ahead of life without some of the veterans currently on the roster.
If the Eagles are going to go with an edge player in the first round, they had better hope someone like Dallas Turner or Josh Sweat falls to that 22nd overall pick.
