3 Potential Busts the Eagles Must Avoid With No. 22 Pick
The Philadelphia Eagles are fresh off of one of the most disappointing seasons in recent memory. The team moved on from defensive coordinator Sean Desai, and even their in-season replacement Matt Patricia after they collapsed late in the season, watching a 10-1 start fizzle into a first-round playoff exit.
The Eagles need to get some things right in the 2024 NFL Draft with clear personnel issues rearing their ugly heads throughout the course of the 2023 season. As usual, general manager Howie Roseman is fully stocked with draft capital to play with, and the Eagles will have no shortage of intriguing options in round one.
But there are some players they might want to steer clear of...
1. Darius Robinson, EDGE/DL, Missouri
Whenever you're looking at a player that doesn't have a defined position projecting to the next level, that's a red flag for a lot of teams.
But in the NFL Draft, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Some teams will look at Darius Robinson and see a player who could be a tremendous down lineman in the NFL, capable of fitting in any scheme and rotating a number of different techniques up front. Others will see a guy who really blossomed once he got to the EDGE and project him there.
There is value in versatility, but where NFL teams can get caught looking is with projecting guys and missing on the vision entirely. You have to have the right vision, you can't just take players who were good at a number of things in college. That doesn't play in the NFL. And for that reason, I think the Eagles would probably be better off passing on Robinson, as much as his skills may help their porous run defense.
