3 Philadelphia Eagles on Thin Ice Following OTAs
The NFL offseason is progressing rather rapidly at this point with teams now moving away from the voluntary portion of OTAs and into the mandatory minicamp section of the offseason. For the Philadelphia Eagles, this could mean some more major roster changes, as we know general manager Howie Roseman basically never sleeps when it comes to assembling his roster.
With the calendar crossing into June, which Eagles players could be on thin ice? Could there be some major roster changes coming?
Let's take a look at a handful of names that could be on the chopping block.
1. Tanner McKee, QB
The Philadelphia Eagles currently have four quarterbacks on the 90-man roster: Starting QB Jalen Hurts, trade acquisition Kenny Pickett, as well as both Tanner McKee and Will Grier. The Eagles' depth at the quarterback position could soon be thinned out as the team likely made some sort of commitment to Pickett's development in terms of getting him some actual on-field reps this offseason.
What is the point of having the four quarterbacks when you're trying to help a guy get his career on the right path, right?
The Eagles added Will Grier this offseason, and Grier might have a significant leg up on someone like Tanner McKee. McKee was a 6th-round pick just last year out of Stanford, but he might not have much longer on this Eagles roster. Grier is a former third-round pick who is reunited in Philadelphia with offensive coordinator Kellen Moore from their time together in Dallas.
McKee is definitely on thin ice right now.
